Mise En Scene - Props (Revolver)
In our opening title sequence one of the main prop being during the flashback chase scene. It is a cap-gun based on a 'Snub nose' revolver 'detective special' like the one used by Bonnie of the infamous Bonnie and Clyde Criminal Couple. This shape of gun indicates its malicious use as it is a commonly used gun amongst petty criminals due to it to compact size. I Drilled through the tip of the gun and recolour the orange tip to black, both of these modifications make the gun seem more realistic when fired due to the louder bang it produces, the smoke that comes from the bullet chamber and the sparks that fly out of the barrel. These modifications have increased the effectiveness of the 8 shot caps that this replica uses. Its short size indicates it is not a long range weapon, which means whoever uses it with the intent of killing needs to get close, the signifies the killer is either is very emotionally driven or has little empathy and is lacking in strong feelings of basic human emotion when it comes to achieving a goal. We believe that this prop alone is one of the most important signifiers in our title sequence as it has so much history and can be interpreted to a variety of extents.
These are the caps fired in the replica gun.
This is the replica cap gun we will be using.
