Mise En Scene - Props (Revolver)

In our opening title sequence one of the main prop being during the flashback chase scene. It is a cap-gun based on a 'Snub nose' revolver 'detective special' like the one used by Bonnie of the infamous Bonnie and Clyde Criminal Couple. This shape of gun indicates its malicious use as it is a commonly used gun amongst petty criminals due to it to compact size. I Drilled through the tip of the gun and recolour the orange tip to black, both of these modifications make the gun seem more realistic when fired due to the louder bang it produces, the smoke that comes from the bullet chamber and the sparks that fly out of the barrel. These modifications have increased the effectiveness of the 8 shot caps that this replica uses. Its short size indicates it is not a long range weapon, which means whoever uses it with the intent of killing needs to get close, the signifies the killer is either is very emotionally driven or has little empathy and is lacking in strong feelings of basic human emotion when it comes to achieving a goal. We believe that this prop alone is one of the most important signifiers in our title sequence as it has so much history and can be interpreted to a variety of extents.

These are the caps fired in the replica gun.

This is the replica cap gun we will be using.

Production Ident

My Group (Ally, George and I) decided to do a mind map to brainstorm and create a production name (or identity) to suit our genre choice. Our first Idea was 'Heatwave productions', but we quickly came to the conclusion that it didnt have the edge we were looking for, instead more of an dangerous and action movie style vibe, possibly more associated with the Fast and Furious franchise. What came to mind next was 'Ripper Productions' and Trap Film Productions'. However the consensus of the group was that 'Ripper Productions' signified gore and would associate more with horror films rather than a psycological, real-life thriller. 'Trap Film Productions however was one of out favorites. It didnt sound too dangerous, or to gory. The name 'Trap Door' could also mean multiple things such as the audience getting trapped within the film, empethising with the characters and getting the feeling that she is there with the characters themselves in their situation.
However our final idea that we stuck too, was Dark Feather Productions. We thought that this sounded quite mysterious, and also edgy, which is just what we wanted. Quite a symbolic name as the feather is dark, however it floats very lightly which can lead to multiple thoughts, such as secrets within our film choice.

                                                           (Primary Draft)

Here is a secondary draft of our production ident, we began by looking for a suitable handrawn picture of a feather on google images, then we proceeded to use the online photo editor 'LunaPic' to change the colours of the photograph,

I Began By Uploading the picture to 'LunaPic' and selecting the two tone colour option and selecting the colours we wanted to change them to.

This is how it looked after applying the colour change to the photograph.

Then we selected a text we felt represented and portrayed our production company appropriately, applyed the text.

We thought the colour of the text should stand out from the feather and we believed it wasent distinctive enough. We also played with different fonts and text positioning to find what looked better.
