180 degree rule

The 180 degree rule is a film makers rule that aids continuity. there is an imaginary line in the scene which the camera cannot cross. For example if there are two people walking down the line towards each other, the camera could not cross to the other side and it would reposition how we would see the actors and could potentially ruin the continuity for the audience.
I found this video to aid my explanation.
